Environmental SEM (ESEM)
Developed by: Centro Andaluz de Nanomedicina y Biotecnología BIONAND
Description
Environmental SEM allows the observation of samples in a vacuum-free atmosphere. Water vapor is introduced into the chamber during the pumping process, allowing to reach chamber pressures as high as 2700 Pa. This pressure combined with a Peltier stage allow us to work at 100% humidity and thus be able to visualize fully hydrated samples and perform dynamic experiments through pressure changes, including hydration - dehydration sequences.
Equipment:
ESEM mode in FEI Quanta 250 FEG
Scanning Electron Microscope
Applications
- Cellular characterization
- Tissue characterization
- Biomaterials characterization
- Macromolecular complexes characterization
