New method for treatment or prevention of Diabetic Macula Edema

The researchers have developed a new method for treating and/or preventing DME  based on the inhibition of a protein involved in the breakdown of the blood-retinal barrier. This protein is overexpressed in the retina of diabetic patients and has been found significantly elevated in the humour vitreous of diabetic patients with DME.This new therapeutic approach will permit us to prevent or arrest the development of DME.
