Hospital Gregorio Marañón launches the world’s first operating room with GPS-guided intraoperative radiation therapy
A joint project between Universidad Complutense, Universidad Carlos III, and the Spanish company GMV has enabled Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Madrid to create the world’s first GPS-guided oncology operating room. Patients with cancer can now benefit from image-guided intraoperative radiation therapy administered in real time.
First spin-off from a LA PAZ–IDIPAZ research project
Researchers at the Hospital Universitario La Paz–IdiPAZ Health Research Institute have formed Biomedica Molecular Medicine, the first technology company in the region. This spin-off has used the results of research in oncology to develop a genomic test that helps clinicians decide on the suitability of chemotherapy for breast cancer patients.
